by Simon SmallStar Pilgrim

What if you were going about your normal business one day and an alien starship appeared in a place so obvious, the whole world would see it? What if the alien being then chose YOU as its Earthly representative – the one person it would talk to, invite into its ship and take out among the stars? What if it then wanted you to go back and tell your fellow-humans about what you had learned, but offered an easier option, if you preferred to take it? How would you deal with it, and who could you look to for help when the whole world wanted to know what made you so special?

This is the basis of this extraordinary novel, which explores gently but searchingly the issues that such an arrival might create, for mankind in general and the chosen one in particular, as well as the individual reactions of some of the people he meets.

Joseph Williams, a widower and priest, finds himself singled out as the one person on Earth whom the Visitor will ‘talk’ to, and it turns his life upside down. But in the process of learning why he is the chosen one, he also learns much about human nature, and the promise he made a long time ago. Will he fulfil that promise, or succumb to the lure of the second option?

by Colette Baron-ReidThe Map

As the write-up on the back of the book reminds or informs you, the author ‘is renowned for helping people create the purposeful and authentic lives they desire’.

This book is a route-map for identifying the places you have already encountered, possibly several times in your life, and wondered why you keep coming back to them, and how to work with the Spirits of those places so you don’t have to keep coming back to them.

Once you’ve identified the places you’re most familiar with on your Map, Colette gives you the tools to dialogue with the parts of yourself that work to try to keep you there. She suggests personifying them as “the Goblin” – whose constant negative talk can keep you on a cycle of self-sabotaging behaviour; and “the Chatterbox” – whose job is to distract you from where you want to be. You can work to calm and neutralise these characters; you can also get help from allies such as the Gentle Gardener and her sister, who help you tend what you planted and recover what you’ve lost. Working with your internal Wizard of Awareness, you can then find your way to the exciting, wonderful places you’ve always dreamed of entering.

This guidebook to the human psyche and its component parts, is a powerful plan of action for anyone who wants to end the cycle of self-defeating behaviours and become the empowered, strong, and magical mapmaker you know you can be.

by Adrian HollandInspirations

The Angel Intuition Deck is very positive and designed for use as both an Angel Healing deck and Tarot Deck. Although it is not directly connected to the major and minor arcana, it does comprise of 78 cards. These cards can be used to give a reading and can be placed in any of the suggested formations, which are the Single Card, the Three-Card Draw or the Celtic Cross.

The author is a Reiki Master and Colour Therapist and has dedicated his life to helping others. All of his artwork is channelled and brings a very positive message of hope and healing. His work is born from love, created in love and given in love.

I was thrilled to receive these cards to review. They come in a small, blue gift box with golden lettering. There are a few cards explaining the deck and how to use the cards and interpret the colours.

The cards are absolutely wonderful to look at and they resonate deeply within me. As an angel artist I truly appreciate the use of colours and shapes on these cards.

This is one of those decks where the cards really need to be looked at and meditated on to have their message come forward. When you use them in a reading you are encouraged to combine the key word with the meanings of the colours of the angel cards.

I have decided to do a three-card draw for all the readers of Paradigm Shift so you can look at them and have them speak to you! The three cards represent past, present and future.

To me this spread signifies that now is the time to reflect upon lessons from the past. Light Workers are encouraged to support each other and ask the angels for support in order to go into the future with an open heart filled with belief!

The author also provides a separate booklet to accompany the deck. It is called Inspirational Angels and is part autobiography and part help guide for using the card deck. It takes you through how Adrian was inspired to create the angels bringing messages of hope and positive thinking, together with affirmations and colour meanings. It was lovely to read about his journey and the meanings of the cards are very helpful.

I would highly recommend surfing the website and enjoying the beautifully, inspired Angelic Art.

The Angel Therapy Handbook by Doreen Virtue

The Angel Therapy Handbook is a ‘vital reference tool that you can refer to again and again’, the critic’s say. “Another Angel book by Doreen?” I hear you say.  Aaahhh, but this time it’s different.  THIS TIME Doreen gives you handy tools, knowledge and wisdom to tuck away in your Angel tool box.

If you’re wanting to hold your own Angel workshops or become an Angel Practitioner, then this is the book for you!  Doreen does a wonderful job on the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of how to be an Angel Practitioner.

The book describes how to become a medium, how to give an angel reading, and what to expect from your clients. Also, how to market yourself and what to expect from your friends, family, relationships as you step onto your path with the Angelic ones.

At the end of reading this book I felt I had gained confidence and new skills with her graceful writing. Thank you Doreen once again, a truly inspiring book to read.

by Keith Holden The Power of Raaagh!!!

This deeply insightful and life-affirming work is constructed like a movie in which YOU are the main character – designed to make challenges as enjoyable as watching your heroines and heroes, and to give you the tools to achieve the ultimate feel-good ending.

Because when you’re absolutely certain of achieving something, the only thing that can prevent it from happening is something even better.

This is a quite thought provoking book, encouraging us to create a better life for ourselves as we control the production that is our life story. Not a new premise perhaps, but the presentation here is quite unique and there are many practical suggestions as to how we can help ourselves to change our way of thinking.

Keith recommends starting the day with a jubilant Raaargh!!!  At first sight, I thought the cover was an illustration of a frustrated/angry Raaargh. However, on dipping into the pages, I soon realised this is a life affirming Raaargh – the sound of a lion sending out his triumphant call across the veldt. This book is certainly different!

by Donald McKinneyWalking in the Mist

Discover the magic, wisdom and profound spirituality of the Ancient Celts for a more peaceful and purposeful life today.

In an increasingly stressful and materialistic world, the age-old beliefs and practices of the Celts bring us back in tune with the magical forces of nature and the spirit world that surround us.

From his own personal journey along the Celtic path, Donald McKinney shows how their wisdom can be applied to enrich our day-to-day lives. He explores the Celtic connection with the natural world, showing us how to find our own Sacred Space and tap into earth energies through meditation. Revealing the power and significance of the changing seasons and lunar cycles, he also offers practical guidance on the Celtic approach to everything from relationships to work and health.

Donald McKinney recaptures the lost wisdom of our forebears and shows it is still very much relevant to our lives today.

On reading the first page of this book, I felt as I were in a gentle mist; in it and part of it at one and same time. The more I read, the more I resonated with the message it brings – to reconnect to the natural order, to step outside the turmoil and pressures of the mundane and be at peace and in tune with the natural world around. This is a unique and practical guide; a veritable treasure house of information.

by Stuart Wilson and Joanna PrentisAtlantis

This book contains a wealth of information, some confirming things we are already aware of, and some offering new insights into both past and present times.

As with their earlier book, The Power of the Magdalene (Review PS Issue 44), Stuart and Joanna present this in the form of a dialogue between Past Life Therapist and client, rather than pages of smooth flowing text. But this does not detract from the information offered, and one soon gets used to reading in this way.

We gain interesting insights into Atlantean society, and learn about advanced Atlantean healing techniques, not too far removed from some of our processes, as we move towards Ascension.

We learn about the different phases of Atlantis, placed in specific periods of history, and are told that Atlantis was an experiment.  The latter did not resonate particularly with me, but I found the information on the healing techniques intriguing.  Both these and considerable information on “the 2012 experience” and The New Consciousness resonated powerfully, and I would recommend this book as a guide and reference as we move towards those changes.

For anyone interested in life in a vibration different from our own, be it in past or future, this book is well worth reading.

by Marcus Mason

With ever-increasing reports of catastrophic natural disasters and political upheaval taking place all over the world, and daily evidence that many of our traditional social and economic systems are no longer working; it’s no wonder that we hear ourselves desperately asking: ‘What’s going on?’

In this book, astrological expert Marcus Mason uses his extensive knowledge on the subject to provide some real answers to this question – and to explain how all of this applies to you, based on your personal sun sign.

21st December 2012 marks the end of a 25,626 year Time Cycle, caused by the Earth gradually changing her orientation in space. As we reach the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next, approaching astrology from the perspective of the soul’s evolution can help us understand the inner, spiritual purpose behind the events and experiences of our lives. By exploring the sequence of astrological changes as they unfold, this book shows you that we are all being offered the exciting opportunity to: change our perceptions, by uniting the intelligence of the mind with that of the heart; understand how we can truly connect with each other and live in harmony; remember how to honour our Mother Earth; and, create a new, and infinitely more positive vision for our future.

On 21 December 2012 a patriarchal cycle ends to make way for a balance between the feminine and masculine, a time for us to join our minds and hearts together according to this book. It takes us on a journey through the ages to see how Astrology has impacted the earth, its inhabitants and their spirituality. For those like me, who have only very rudimentary knowledge of Astrology the introduction to Astrology, the Astrological Signs and the Planets is very helpful. The years leading up to 2012 and significant astrological moments and influences are described as well as the years after, giving us insight in what is to come and how we can work with these energies in our personal lives. To help with this there is also information on how 2012 will influence your astrological sign! Fascinating material I am sure I will refer to in the year(s) ahead.

I always thoroughly enjoy Marcus’ astrology articles in Paradigm Shift, even though I have little knowledge of Astrology. For those of you who enjoy his articles too, I highly recommend this book.

A 40 day Progam for Embodying Oneness

by James TwymanThe Proof

James and Anakha Coman are having a conversation and are discussing Oneness, how Anakha uses it and how James came across it.  They have broken down the process into 40 practices that can profoundly change your life and how you see the world.

Over the course of 40 days the reader will discover a wide range of aspects of Oneness from creativity, through heartbreak to forgiveness.  They are all down to earth and easy to follow, with no spiritual jargon nor any ‘wow wow’ stuff!

It is also inspiring that James and Anakha explore the shadow side of spirituality, as I feel we need to see our shadow selves, so that we embrace all aspects of our being.  This ensures that the whole of our being can be seen, reviewed and healed, this then has a knock on effect not only on ourselves, but on those around us and then outward on to the planet.

I have used these practices and have noticed a difference, I believe in sharing inspirational books so have loaned this out to quite a few people so they can gain the insight.  I need to get the book back so that I can re-hone these skills again.

By Frances Vaughn & Roger WalshGifts from A Course in Miracles

Having tried to read and follow the full course in miracles on my own has been quite daunting, however coming across this lovely ‘gifts’ book has been inspiring and an absolute miracle find!

It is a beautiful collection of quotes from the course.  You can read it cover to cover, or pick it up and choose a passage to read.

This book is an inspiration, especially just opening the book upon a page and reading the passage that your eyes light upon. Just before going to bed, helps the mind and body to gain a sense of peace, so that sleep comes more profoundly and you feel yourself surrounded by and cushioned by words from spirit, a sense of divine love inspires your dreams.

A quote – “There is nothing outside you……”  is placed in my diary, to help me see that life is what I make of it, any changes need to come from the inside before they are seen outside of myself.

The introduction by Marianne Williamson is definitely worth the price of this book, if you have always wanted to read the course in miracles but have been phased, then this book is for you!
