by His Holiness The Dalai LamaThe Dalai Lama
Translated and Edited By Jeffrey Hopkins

The translator of this book, Jeffrey Hopkins PhD, is Professor of Tibetan Studies at the University of Virginia. In addition to translating this and other books by the Dalai Lama, he has also written the Foreword to the present book.

His Holiness introduces the book by speaking about the need for peace and kindness in the world. His book offers, in an accessible and comprehensible way, valuable techniques from Tibetan tradition, which can lead to mental peace.

Using examples from the life of Buddha, the Dalai Lama tells us of three stages on this path: morality, concentrated meditation and wisdom, each one serving as the basis for the next. There is a section devoted to each of these three stages. The Dalai Lama also gives some insight into Tantra.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is very much aware of the world in which we live. In particular, because of the global economy, he knows that no nation can remain isolated. It is therefore most important that the values discussed in this book are put into practice.

by Louise Hay & Cheryl RichardsonYou Can Create an Exceptional LIfe

For countless people, the words of Louise Hay have served as a beacon, leading them out of the darkness of despair and into the light of a better life. Cheryl Richardson is one of the many individuals whom Louise has greatly influenced . . . before going on to become a best-selling author herself.

So what happens when these two combine their collective wisdom into one book?

The result is this lovely book. As Louise and Cheryl engage in a series of empowering and intimate conversations, you’ll feel as if you’re simultaneously having lunch with your best friends and also attending a master-class, put on by two leaders of the self-empowerment movement.

As they travel throughout North America and Europe together; Louise and Cheryl discuss a wide range of topics, including the importance of loving ourselves and our bodies; ageing consciously; bringing true prosperity and abundance to the world; manifesting positive relationships – both with family and friends and in the workplace; and facing death in a dignified and peaceful way.

These two amazing women are living proof that the spiritual principles they discuss in these pages really work. As you read, you’ll discover that you, too, have the ability to create an exceptional life!

When I picked this book up, I thought it may be about far away goals in life and how to meet them. Yet this book is so much closer to home! It is about what you can do in the here and now to create a life that is more engaged, more in keeping with who you are. Ultimately this book is about self-love and how to make small changes to create big differences in your life.

Lovely affirmations are added for healing, for special moments in the day but also for times when you are facing difficulties.

I sometimes encounter people who use affirmations and the law of attraction to start a blame game. If things go wrong in your life, you must have been thinking negatively. Thankfully this book is not about that at all. It is about being compassionate and loving towards yourself AND opening up to positive change.

A documentary by Stefan WolfA New We

This really surpassed my expectations of Community living in the World. The film-maker Stefan Wolf has taken a sensitive approach to interviewing members and founders of Communities in Europe.

I have heard of Damanhur in Italy where over 1000 people, including families, are living and was delighted by the structure, the beauty created and the harmony in which it functions and thrives. This is an example to all of us who maybe keen to explore ‘other’ living options.

I particularly enjoyed seeing and hearing about the smaller communities on Gran Canaria and in Spain. With only a handful of dedicated people who were willing to take the plunge, buy small plots of land and take it upon themselves to live sustainably and in connection with mind body spirit. Their genuine living philosophy of democratic living reminded me of indigenous tribes in South America or Africa who live in harmony and respect with Nature.

This is not all sugar sweet as it shows of determination, hard work and tackling problems with sustainable solutions that serve the Whole.   Perhaps this DVD is the way forward for the future of Humanity?

Both a powerful and thoughtful, provoking watch.
