by Nick HobsonPsy-Cards

After a marital quarrel, Nick Hobson, who worked as a copywriter at the time, had a vivid dream in which he saw all the elements that made up his life spread out before him like a field. On seeing this patchwork of his life, instead of feeling stressed and put upon, he felt calm, peaceful and in control. When he awoke he wanted to share this personal vision to help others navigate their lives. So Psycards was born in the 1980s with its system of detachable symbols that could be connected to form a bigger picture, an alternative Tarot.

Tarot readers will recognise some of the 40 symbols, such as The Tower and The Moon, but other cards are based on archetypes from Jungian psychology, and take a bit of learning. There is a 227-page book that fully explains the cards as well as a small leaflet for easy reference. Maggie Kneen’s colourful and striking Medieval-flavoured illustrations draw the reader in and are taken from mythology, poetry and folk wisdom, Nick’s favourite subjects.

At the end of each card-explanation in the book, there are Thought Prompts that encourage the reader to delve deeply into their psyche and help them make key life-decisions.

For someone who prefers oracle cards, I find this deck a bit hard to get into, but I will persevere. Tarot readers, though, will find this just their cup of tea, as it’s a very nice set.

by Joanne GregoryASK_20_26_20IT_20WILL_20HAPPEN_20SET_large

My first thought when I took off the cellophane was “what a clever little box this is incorporating an easel in which to slip a card”. It even has a magnetic strip to keep the box secure. I also like the thumbhole that makes it easy to open. As someone who has quite a collection of oracle sets, this is definitely one of the easiest to access and store. It is a great starter-set for someone who has just learnt about The Law of Attraction, as well as being a pleasant reminder of the benevolence of Our Creator for an old hand like me.

There is nothing difficult or complicated about this charming set, illustrated brightly and cheerfully by Eleanor Carter. One card is drawn daily, weekly or monthly to help focus the desire to manifest whatever we feel we need in our lives. As there are messages on both sides, I simply close my eyes and choose one daily. The accompanying booklet expands on the wise advice. To quote Joanne herself “The universe is constructed so that once a clear request is sent out, the laws of the universe are instigated and a result guaranteed.” If we stop and analyse our lives thus far we can see that this process really does work. (I sometimes find that a throwaway idea works the best because I haven’t blocked it with obsession.)

Joanne guides inquirers to ask for what they desire, write it down so they can check back later, tell themselves that whatever is requested is already here, “visualise it over and over again”, then draw a card. “Believe your request will come to you and it will.”

My only complaint about oracle sets in general is that they mostly attract women. Men are spiritual too. Even hairy bikers need loving guidance! So how about some more masculine ones minus the hearts and flowers and ever-present female angels?

By Eva M. Sakmar-SullivanOracle Cards

Inspire your sixth sense to guide you, using the energy associated with the images on 60 beautifully illustrated oracle cards. Based on the law of attraction, you will choose the cards that are in vibrational harmony with the answers you seek or what you most need to know. Working with these cards on a daily basis will have a positive impact on your life and the people around you.

What do you need to know about love?  Spark your intuition and connection with Divine guidance and celebrate love through purity and the magnificence of self! Eva’s mission is for her artwork to serve as inspiration for personal and planetary healing, transformation and love. She is a visionary painter and environmentalist with a special love for dolphins and creatures of the sea.

I absolutely love this oracle deck. The box holds 60 cards and an accompanying booklet with guidance for the reader. The back of the cards shows a beautiful illustration of a couple entwined within a tree. Behind it are a rainbow and the galaxy and next to it the sea and two dolphins. The cards depict pictures of mystical beings such as angels, dolphins, Pegasus, unicorns, faeries and sacred places as well. Some illustrations have featured on the cover of Paradigm Shift in the past.

I received the deck at a time when relationship troubles of a family member triggered my own past hurts. As I shuffled the cards, one dropped out. I put it back, shuffled once more and picked a card. And it was the same one that had fallen out of the pile. It was the forgiveness card. I could not have picked a better one. The text in the booklet was very helpful as well, giving me just the guidance I needed.

By Stewart PearceThe Angels of Atlantis

With a sub-title like this one – Twelve Mighty Forces to Transform Your Life Forever – you would expect this book to pack quite a punch. And it does. Stewart Pearce has long been known in the Mind Body Spirit arena for his sound healing work and for his other books, which include The Alchemy of Voice and The Heart’s Note. There is also a deck of oracle cards which accompanies the book under review, which presumably also utilise the stunning illustrations of each Archangel’s energy signature by Richard Crookes.

Atlantis is, for many, an old wives’ tale, a legend with no historical basis, yet many books, workshops etc are now available to help us connect with the energy of this very ancient civilisation. In his Prologue, Stewart Pearce tells us that ‘my intention … is not to create mystique but rather to connect the reader with that part of their psyche that resonates deeply with the notion of Atlantis, and the archetypal depth of human nature’.

In this book, the author connects for us the names and functions of the High Priests and Priestesses of Atlantis, and equates them with the energies of the twelve mightiest Archangels, each of whom has a chapter to him/herself. Each is also connected with a colour, an aroma, and a meditation to help the reader to a personal experience of the energies of that Archangel, as well as giving other information to help you better understand that energy, including a story which he feels illustrates the power of the Archangel.

Mention is also made of the geographical area of the world where the angel’s energies were taken by the relevant High Priest/ess at the fall of Atlantis and the effects this had on the local population. Metatron, for instance, is equated with Amun, who took his followers to Central Mexico and became ‘the great god Quetzlcoatl’. His energy also spread to Greece, where it took on the feminine role of Gaia, while in Egypt it became Amun-Ra, personified in the body of Pharaoh.

Values and questions to help connect with the energy are given for each angel, and a prayer ends each ‘angel story’, which the reader is encouraged to adapt to their own situation. There is so much to take in that this book is best read in short passages, and if you were to do more than one exercise in one sitting, you may well find your mind expanding out of your ears!

Short, informative, and powerful, this book is one that every lover of angelic energies or enquirer into the Atlantean legacy will want to own and read.

by  Cathelijne FilippoDragon Oracle

Dragons are known to some as archetypes and to others as divine angelic beings carrying cosmic fire.

These cards will help you attune to the archetypes and wisdom of the dragons and to the wisdom within yourself.

Thirty-three cards with different dragons will give you insight into the qualities within yourself that you can further develop. They aim to support you on your spiritual path and help you work towards empowerment, wellbeing and healing. These solution focused spiritual cards will help you deal with life’s challenges in a positive way.

When I received these cards, I felt a gentle energy surround me – the soft muted colours of the box bring an immediate but subtle response. Dipping into the cards was a revelation. The illustrations are deceptively simple and the message on each card means they can be used in a number of ways; from the layouts described in the accompanying booklet, or to just drawing one when the need arises. The booklet also provides further information and a declaration for each card which can be used as an affirmation.

The first time I introduced these to friends, the response was overwhelmingly positive and they are likely to be placing their own orders very soon! I am looking forward to working with these cards more and more.

by Annie b.Angel Cards

The angels are always there to help, protect and guide us, we just have to ask and this set of cards helps to find the answers that already lie within.

These oracle cards are somewhat different from most on the market today as there are no lengthy explanations; just a simple message on each card. There is something of a childlike innocence about the illustrations and this simplicity, just calls to the heart.

I certainly feel this set would be absolutely ideal for those who are just beginning to become interested in the realms of angels, but will also have a wider appeal especially to the young.

by Alan-HavenThe Oracle Book

This is an unusual book where you ask a question and then open the book at random to find the answers within. I have been testing it out with a range of events and questions and each time it has given me good advice connected directly to what I was asking.

The book itself claims to provide incisive clues for ways through present time personal trials. The apparently random choice offers amazingly accurate, empowering insights to your current situation. This involves preparation for some, direction for others, defining the challenges, appropriate action, revelations and/or awakening awareness.

There is much to be learned from each saying in the book, so that simply opening any page gives a wealth of guidance. Opening this book will always have something for you; it is not made up of single words or phrases but full text with a mixture of the practical, the spiritual, the emotional and the psychological.  The basic essence is in the heading and the following text is like the development of the theme. Each time you open that page another facet of meaning may leap out at you.  The flavour never stays quite the same but it is always relevant to the moment.

It is an oracle and attempts to make the intangible, tangible in words and it comes pretty close, at least for me.
